Mint Restaurant has introduced a new addition to their menu last week. You can now dine on five courses for $55. “It’s something we’re doing for the rest of the winter.” says Steve. The style remains contemporary french cuisine with the five course offering sized to leave you feeling satisfied. “We’ve had a good response from the people that have tried it already,” says Ruth “we can also suggest wines to go with each course.” There a choice of either twice cooked pork belly or fresh fish of the day with a panko crust. For Tangaroa Seafood fans out there, Mint is lucky enough to still be able to serve fish from Tangaroa.
The a la carte menu continues to feature all the favourites, although a menu change is signalled shortly so if there’s favourites you love, it might pay to drop in sooner rather than later. Mint is also one of only a handful of Hawke’s Bay restaurants where you can enjoy a glass of wine before dinner in front of an open fire.
During August Mint is rewarding social diners who tweet or post Mint dishes on their Facebook page. “Just take and tweet a photo of your Mint Dish adding the hashtag #MintDish to the tweet and we’ll be able to pick it up.” says Ruth. The best dish photo taken in August will receive a complimentary bottle a Veuve Clicquot champagne next time they dine. Mint is already a favourite with celebrating hospo workers who have discovered them as the place to affordably go out and celebrate with a bottle of bubbly. Now they’re letting you in on the secret!
There’s lots more in store over the next few months such as their 2012 Signature Dish entry, but Steve will not be drawn yet on what he’s got in mind for it. “It’s still in the preparation stages.” says Steve. We’ll keep you posted as we discover more.
