Tongariro Volcano has erupted for the first time in over 100 years in the central North Island. Official advice has been to stay indoors with the windows and doors closed for Hawke’s Bay residents according to Angela Reed at Napier Civil Defence. She also said that the situation isn’t too serious for Hawke’s Bay residents. Remembering the last eruption that affected Hawke’s Bay, Mt Ruapehu spewed ash across the region bringing a dusting across cars across Hawke’s Bay. Who know whether this one is likely to do the same.
