FG Smith Eatery in Ahuriri opening soon

The FG Smith Eatery has been in the works for the last couple of months and is an innovative combination of talent from Jennifer Le Comte, the founder of Opera Kitchen in Hastings and Rakai from Aroha and Friends. Their Napier store will relocate into the FG Smith building in Ahuriri as part of the new venture. According to the Aroha and Friends blog, FG Smith Eatery is still a few more weeks away from opening. We did however, spot this tweet from Chef Hayden Esau talking about doing some cooking at FG Smith and confirming the kegs are now in.

Might get to do some cooking at F.G. Smith Eatery 2moro! Also the beer kegs are in. Tuatara Helles Lager!!!!!!!!

What we do know is that the FG Smith Building has been around a loooong time. Have a look at the building on the bottom right below. To have the building brought back to life with design in mind is fantastic. I have no doubt it will be a well thought out approach to Ahuriri’s newest eatery.
