Hawke’s Bay Cafe’s give away bikkies for a tweet

Bikkie Tweets is a fun concept I came up with a couple of weeks ago for cafe’s to give away a biscuit in return for a tweet. The idea is to let customers know they are on twitter and to reward customers on twitter that help spread the word. I sent out a setup pack to Tweet2eat cafe members outlining the bikkie for a tweet concept that included a customised flyer for each cafe like the one for No 5 Cafe & Larder below:

No 5 Cafe & Larder #BikkieTweets

Each cafe then decided whether they would be up for a bit of bikkietweet fun and how they wanted to participate. There weren’t really any guidelines so cafe’s could be as creative as they wanted. The first cafe to get the bikkies out for customers was No 5 Cafe and Larder.

Flight Coffee, Onekawa #BikkieTweets

That prompted Flight Coffee in Onekawa to get some bikkies baked ready for their coffee lovers the following week. Danny called in a favour from a relative with the bikkie baking and chocolate icing skills and voila, flying bikkie tweets was born! @FlightCoffeeHB is new to twitter and was able to increase his audience in a fun way. Look at how amazing these bikkie’s look!

Flight Coffee aeroplane bikkies in Onekawa, Napier

Hawthorne Coffee, Havelock North #BikkieTweets

Tom from Hawthorne Coffee could see the tweets and the bikkie’s online and joined in on the action with their regular coffee crowd at Hawthorne Coffee in Havelock North. The double chocolate bikkies were a hit; so much so Tom believes some customers pretended they were on twitter just to eat a bikkie.

Boardwalk Napier #BikkieTweets

Boardwalk Napier doubles as a beach cafe serving Bay Espresso Garden of Eaten blend for locals and tourists that want to enjoy a view with their coffee. While bikkie tweets is running, you will receive a free bikkie with your tweet there too.

 Sometimes the simplest giveaways can be the most effective. I’m sure it has been a talking point for customers and cafe staff at each of the cafe’s as well as the exposure on twitter…and just plain fun! Some of the bikkie tweets were from people new to twitter. The community is growing!
